A New Year's Riley and Company Challenge

Happy Holidays everyone!  Today is challenge day for
Riley and Company.
Frances has challenged us to create a card that is
inspired by a New Year Resolution.  Join us in this
fun challenge and post on Splitcoast Stampers with
the keyword Riley 2510 or post a link here.

This year I have decided I am making a New Year's
resolution that I just might be able to keep.  LOL!

You see I have been quite a book collector in 2010.
Paper books, ebooks you name it I have collected it.
Problem is I have not been reading them!

So my resolution is to read a book a week.
Of course when Riley heard this he had some very sage
advice.  So here is some New Year's advice -

You just have to love School Boy Riley and
all his books.  Looks like he visited my bookcase.
The saying is from Moose Sayings 1.

Have a wonderful New Year everyone!
And..... READ A GOOD BOOK!

Christmas Blog Hop Day 2!

Welcome back to day two of the
Ho Ho Ho Christmas
Blog hop by Circut Circle members.

I am stop 6. The hop starts here at Josy's Craft Corner.
You should have arrived from Mandy's Scrap.
The next stop is Scrappidy Ashy.

Sorry if any of you had troubles viewing my blog
yesterday.  The black background was really
cute but did not seem to want to load all the time
so that left my white text disappearing.  LOL!
So a change!

I think one of my favorite carts is Forever Young.
Once upon a time I took courses in Fashion Design
so just love the look of the fashion dolls but the hidden
jewel of this cartridge are the purses.  Oh my they are
all cute!  The first ones cut purses with cutouts but if
you look at the very back of the cartridge book you
will find all of the purse shapes without cutouts.

This one is my fave!

There is a secret to embossing on these.  Cut two!  I cut the front
and back panels off the second one and emboss then glue over
the top of the first assembled purse.  This also strengthens the
purse as well.  This purse was cut on a 12 x12 sheet of cardstock
and set fit to page which I believe comes up to be 6 1/4".

The sweet little penquin is from Simply Charmed and cut at
2 1/2".  The Chill Out is from the same cartridge and cut at 1/2".
The snowflake is from the new Winter Lace Seasonal cart.
It is cut at 3".

To slightly tilt the penquin towards the center I glue dotted
down her right side and then put two pop dots stacked on top
of each other under her left side.  This will tilt her inwards.

Thanks for stopping by!

Be sure and sign up as a follower and leave a comment
and you will be entered in a drawing for the Four Legged
Friends Cricut Lite Cartridge I am giving away!
I will be drawing Tuesday evening!

Good Luck!

Next stop -  Scrappidy Ashy's.

Ho Ho Ho Cricut Circle Blog Hop Day 1!

Welcome to the Christmas Blog Hop by 14
 Cricut Circle members!
Yes 14 wonderful stops for both Saturday
 and Sunday so be sure
and check both days.

I am stop 9. The hop starts here at Josy's Craft Corner.
You should have arrived from Pixel Layne Studio.
The next stop is Scrappidy Ashy.

If this is your first visit to my blog welcome! If you look at
previous posts you can see I am on the design team
for an awesome rubber stamp company.
I decided to join this hop for a personal challenge.
I put away the stamps and let my Cricut do the work!

I have to admit I went a little cart crazy these past few weeks with
all the great sales! So here is a peek at a couple new favorites of mine.

If you do not have it already - nab Wrap It Up! This is the most
amazing cartridge.
Here is a card done with a saying from this cart.
Happy Holidays was cut at 2 3/4".
Poinsettia layers were cut at 3". Paper is from the DCWV
Homemade Christmas stack found at JoAnn's.
I inked the edges of the kraft colored paper with
Vintage Photo Distress ink. The card itself is 4" by 8".

How about a Santa Highwire Act?  LOL!

Isn't he funny?  Santa and the penant are from Jolly Holidays.
This one is a Cricut Lite cartridge available from Walmart only.
I am hoping this one shows up soon to purchase
at Cricut.com so everyone can own it!  It is adorable!

Santa is cut at 3 1/2". Even then his face is just too small a piece
to use so grab those markers and color it.
I added just little black lines and a dot for the eyes
and a peachy colored dot for the nose and cheeks.

I added a bit of pale pale grey to the edge of the beard
to give it a bit of depth.

The gloves are a bit odd matching up but the cuffs will cover
where it does not quite fit. They were odd pieces to figure out. LOL!

The Penant is oh so simple to cut. Just 2 1/2" in size will do it.
This card is cut at 6" by 6". The black mat is 5 3/4" square
and the yellow patterned paper is 5 1/2" square.
I embossed the yellow paper with a Cuttlebug embossing folder -
the A2 size Seeing Spots folder.

Thanks for stopping by....
Now for a special treat -
1) sign up as a follower to my blog and....
2) Leave me a comment on this post and....
be entered to win the Four Legged Friends Cricut Lite Cartridge.
If you return tomorrow and leave another comment you will have
another chance to win it! So two chances to win!

Good Luck and happy blog hopping! Next stop.......
Scrappidy Ashy!

Until tomorrow!

This Joy ornament is from the Target Dollar Spot.

This is a lattice edge folded card.

Next up is Angel Riley
I fell in love the minute I saw this stamp!
Isn't he adorable?

Again a wood snowflake frame from Target's
Dollar Spot.  The gold frame is from Michaels
dollar bins.

Then a quick yet cute card.
Made me think of the phrase
Angels we have heard on high!

Day Three and more Sneek Peeks!

Wow day three already!  Be sure
and join us tomorrow night at 9 pm for
the blog hop!

Now for another peek....
how about Christmas trees and gift boxes.
Riley style.  LOL!

Meet Ornaments Riley.  Only Riley
would try to hide in the Christmas tree!

This is a tree ornament I picked up
in the Target Dollar Spot.  A quick and
easy item to make.

Then remember I said I had more
more framed Rileys!
How about Ornaments Riley
and the new Gift Box Riley.

Then last but not least a very untraditional Christmas card
done in brown tones.  I think this one would also work
with a Happy Birthday saying instead.

Have a wonderful day!  See you tomorrow for the blog
hop!

A Holiday Time Riley Challenge

Today we had a challenge from Laurie to make something
with an outdoor theme.  How perfect is that for these new
stamps!  All sorts of winter fun!  Thanks for the challenge
Laurie!

How about a couple more dollar items all decorated up?
First a cute little box found in Target's Dollar Spot
with Ice Skating Sophie.

Then another photo frame from Michaels with Snowglobe
Riley.

Last but not least a card done with Snowglobe Riley
This stamp is fast becoming one of my faves!

Please join us in this challenge.  Post a link here in
the comments or post at Splitcoast Stampers
with the keyword Riley2210.

See you tomorrow with more sneek peeks!

Therese

A Sneek Peek at a Sweet Stocking Sophie!

Isn't Stocking Sophie sweet?
I have to admit I love this little project. These
frames caught my eye at Michaels. Yes just
a dollar. It did have a plastic type film
instead of glass but I just cut it out.  Wait until
you see some of the other stamps in these frames!

Now this one used a bit of patterned paper which I stamped
Sophie on and then cut out the stocking to add to another
stamped Sophie. Super quick to color and you just pop it up
in the open frame with pop dots. Add a bow and you have
a sweet little smile bringer.

How about a quick card?  More dollar bin cards from Michaels.
I did use two cards to make one fancier card.
I embossed the front of one.  Cut out the square design
then pop dotted it up on the second card.
Add Stocking Sophie popped up in one corner and a velveteen bow.

Super simple and super quick!

I know we all are so busy this time of year so I hope these
give you some quick ideas!

Until tomorrow!

Holiday Time for Riley and Company!

So who loves shopping the dollar bins at your favorite stores?
I do I do! LOL!  I am addicted to Michael's dollar bins
and do stop ever so often at Target's. Who loves
sneek peeks?  I do I do!

So how about some quick and easy Riley projects with my
latest dollar finds? I will tell you which store to grab the
dollar items at and of course just nab all 10 Riley stamps
Thursday night and you are ready to do some quick and
easy holiday cards and ornaments!
This set is absolutely awesome.

For those of you who do not have a Michaels or Target
nearby - just look at your favorite dollar store for photo
cards to be filled, small colorful frames and ornaments
with either a photo opening or a flat surface.

So come along with me this week while I show you
some fun ideas and of course some really cool cards
to make if you have a bit more time.

First up - Sledding Riley and Snowball Riley.

Oh so cute and oh so simple done in bright colors.
Grab some photo cards from Michaels (8 cards for $1)
and some photo frame ornaments from Target (just $1!)

All you need to do is cut some shapes for the ornament
and a 4x5 card for the photo frame.
I actually covered up the photo opening in the ornament.

Add some ribbon to the frame so it can hang up,
a bow at the bottom and the all important
Star Dust Stickles after you color your stamped images
and you are good to go.

Super simple with no need for patterned paper
or paint for ornaments.

Hope this gives you a idea to start with.
Stay tuned more to come! This set of
stamps is so versatile for Christmas!
These stamps are not just for cards. :-)

Enjoy!

Tuesday Challenge for Riley and Company!

Guess what?  It is challenge time for Riley and Company.
And.... I got to choose the challenge this week.  Yahoo!

So bring on the Anniversary or Wedding cards please.
My challenge is to make any kind of Anniversary or Wedding
card.  Just had to choose this because October is a
special month in my family.
It is a family tradition to get married in October.  Yes my parents,
my Hubbie and I, and my brothers and their wives all chose
October.  My engaged daughter plans on October as well.
No announcement of the year yet.  LOL!

First a very traditional card with the Bride and Groom for
memories sake.  Stamp is Wedding Riley.
Paper is by KaiserKraft.  Rather an unusual choice but
I wanted something dark and rich for fall.
The Spellbinders Fleur de Lis border is great on cards like
these.  The card size is non standard as well. I cut it 5.5 wide
and 6 inches long  so that gave it room for the
pendant Nestibilities.

Next up just for giggles and just for Hubbie.  (We never give
each other serious cards.)  I couldn't resist.  Franken-Riley
and Goth Sophie looked so darn cute together at the
Haunted House I just had to stamp them again.

So a tri shutter card just for grins.

Happy stamping and give this challenge a try!  Just post
your results at Splitcoast Stampers with the keyword
Riley1910.  You can also post a link here in the comments.

I am off to try more card designs. I have tried waterfall cards
and now tri shutter.  Love them both!

Something Complete Different!

Now for something completely different!
On Monday while I was so busy getting
ready for the new Riley release I got a
delivery of my early birthday, anniversary
and Christmas gift.  LOL!

I was not sure how this would work for
the cardmaker in me but my dream has
always been to complete my Heritage
scrapbook. I have dabbled with digital
scrapbooking trying to speed my scrapping up!

So I ordered one of the new Cricut Imagines.
If you haven't heard of it well it is the newest machine
by ProvoCraft.  Info is here:
http://www.cricut.com/imagine/Home.aspx

Why this machine?  Well I already have a huge
library of Cricut cartridges and a Gypsy.  This
machine can use all my Cricut carts and when
they get the update ready the Gypsy will be
able to be plugged into it!

So my impression?
At first I was unsure.  It was way out of
callibration.  I found info on the Cricut message
boards on how to do advanced callibration and
now I am in LOVE!

Here are my first quick results.
My first cuts have a white border.
I have since found out how to eliminate those.
If you follow my Riley stamping you know I love
to cut out my Rileys and leave a white border so
it looks like something I would do anyway!

The cartridge used for these is the new Nursery
Tails for the Cricut Imagine.  It  was included
with the machine from Home Shopping Network
and I was not sure about it.  I really don't have
a need for a baby cart.  Well it makes the
cutest cards.

Have a wonderful weekend.  I am off to class
with Suze Weinberg.  Yahoo!

guaranteed to make you smile.  Please be sure

and leave comments as you go and you will

of these stamps unmounted.  Woo Hoo!

Well do you think our two favorite monsters,
Franken Riley and Mummy Riley have
settled the vampire war?

Let's check in.............

Hum things seem awfully quiet.  So Vampire Riley
what happened?

"I am so embarassed.  When Mummy and Frankie
got us to talking I found out all Count Dracu-Riley
wanted was to find some friends, some vampires
like him.  He was so lonely.Sorry I overreacted.
We fixed the problem.  A very fine solution I think."

What solution?  What did you do?

Oh oh... I think I see.

Are those fangs on everyone?

Vampire Riley beamed with pride.  "Yes it is!  Now
we have a town full of friends. "

So if you are driving country roads sometime
and see farmers plowing fields in the dark and townspeople
raking leaves at night.  Well you better turn and drive off
fast for you just might have stumbled across Rileyville.

The End

Now for one last card finale.  I have
been trying waterfall cards.

Of course first I had to do my favorite
new monsters.

It is my pleasure to introduce one of my new favorites -
he is pretty special at Riley HQ. Not only did Cowboy
Riley get a new sidekick but we have the perfect
character for Kansas City Chiefs cards.

Indian Chief Riley

Inside are our favorite Football player and Cheerleader.
Go Chiefs!

Thanks for stopping by!
I am the final stop on the blog hop
so now hop on over to Riley and Company
and save 10% if you buy all 8 new designs!
Enjoy!  They are the cutest Rileys ever!

Just a few more hours!

Thursday is the day to nab these fantastic new Riley stamps!
Join us at 9 pm central time for the complete release
and blog hop!  Just start here and follow the links.

Now where were we in Rileyville?  Oh that's right
Hiking Riley was making a fast exit and someone
was calling for Frankie in the Rileyville cemetery.

"Hey, YooHoo Frankie!"  "Did you wake up too?"
Mummy Riley called.
"Hey over here little buddy!" Franken Riley called.

"Wow what is going on here?  I think all this paranormal
activity has disturbed our slumber."

"Look over there Frankie isn't that your old
girlfriend Goth Sophie on that porch?  Let's go see
what is going on."

"Sophie what is going on here?" Frankie yelled.
"Good to see you Frank. "  "Seems two vampires
are duking it out and have disturbed the whole
town." she sighed.

"Okay little buddy I think we need to go find the
vampires and knock some sense into them."
Frankie replied.

Off they went to see the vampires.

So think they can solve this problem?

Stay tuned.

Ready for some cards?
Let's see what I still have lurking....

Until tonight..... have a spooky good time!

Day 3 Sneek Peeks!

It is day three of the sneek peeks!  Yahoo!

So wonder what is up with Hiking Riley
in Rileyville?

Well as he walks into town he sees all these
signs.  Handwritten signs that say:

"No Draculas allowed."
"Dracula Go Home."

What in the world is going on in this town?

As he walks farther he spots a little guy
very intently writing signs.
He asks where the nearest store is but
all the little guy will do is point down the
road.

As Hiking Riley leaves he thinks he
sees fangs on the Writing Riley.  Nah
must be imagining things.

Soon he comes to a big sprawling
old house.  He decides to knock on the
door.
A very interestingly dressed young
lady answers.

"Yes can I help you?"
"I am looking for a grocery store?"
"Sorry we don't have one in Rileyville."
Oh...
"Say my name is Goth Sophie. What did
you need?"
Hiking Riley explains he wanted to buy
some marshmallows and Goth Sophie
says she has some he can have.

Great!  As he is waiting he could swear he
hears someone calling Frankie across
the road.  No couldn't be.  That is the
cemetery.

Hiking Riley gets his marshmallows
and quickly heads down the road.
He can not leave this spooky
town fast enough!

Would you like a peek of what is going
on in the cemetery?

Story continues tomorrow!

Now for some cards featuring my two favorite cemetery
monsters!  Mummy Riley and Franken-Riley! The
last one is another vellum window which you could
put your saying inside to show through.

Same time same place tomorrow!
